Congratulations to Beatrice Hogg! Our Robot Hearts contributor had herĀ essay, “Channeling Betty Davis,” featured in Issue #1, Summer 2011, edition of Adanna: A Journal for Women, about Women.
In case you don’t know, Betty Davis was a funk/rock singer in the seventies, the ex-wife of Miles Davis and friend of Hendrix, Clapton and Sly, among others. More information on the journal can be found at www.adannajournal.blogspot.com
We were lucky enough to meet Beatrice in Los Angeles last summer when did our readings for Robot Hearts. We can’t wait to read your essay in Adanna!
Shawna Kenney and Cara BruceĀ just got back from a quick trip to New York City. We joined the talented Jennifer Blowdryer and Jo Weldon at the Sex Worker Literati, hosted by Zoe Hansen and David Henry Sterry. It was a fantastic night. We were entertained by acts from on-woman plays, a philosophical stripper, a burlesque tutorial, and, in the finale (one of the best performances) Chicava of Brown Girls Burlesque appeared in a windsock money suit and ended up in only handcuffs and a bikini… you just had to be there.
